If you haven’t registered your privately purchased vehicle yet, getting a completed appraisal before you visit your Autoplan broker is the simpler of Underbook’s two paths — here’s the exact sequence.
Before you go, in order

Why timing matters
An appraisal can be used two different ways: before you register the vehicle, to support the taxable value used at that time, or after you’ve already registered and paid, to support a refund of the difference. Acting before registration is generally simpler — it avoids the separate refund process and its own strict deadline entirely.
What FIN 320 is — and isn’t
Two different things
FIN 320 is a single government form, not your entire appraisal package. Underbook completes FIN 320 as part of preparing your signed appraisal — you bring both to your broker together, not FIN 320 alone.
Your Autoplan broker processes your registration and registers your vehicle. The broker does not perform the appraisal, does not decide the appraised value, and does not decide the tax result — that decision is made under BC’s tax rules when you register.
What to have ready
Before you start, it helps to have your VIN, purchase price, and basic vehicle details on hand, along with photos and any documentation of the vehicle’s condition — mileage, mechanical issues, damage, or anything else that may affect its real value. No account or sign-up is required to check your vehicle.
No outcome is guaranteed. If the evidence doesn’t support a lower value, Underbook tells you plainly, at no charge, rather than proceeding to a paid appraisal that wouldn’t genuinely help.
