Review before payment
Underbook reviews
Underbook reviews your submission before requesting payment. A preliminary VIN opportunity assessment is not a completed appraisal. “Worthwhile” means the supported benefit is enough under the fair-pricing policy, not savings of any size. On the refund path, that assessment depends on the PST actually paid and verified evidence. Underbook requests payment only when review supports proceeding.
Complete, honest information helps the review move confidently. If something’s missing or unclear, Underbook may reach out for more detail before reaching a decision. Clear photos help most; see the Vehicle photo checklist.
One secure place to return
An assistant can help explain public guidance and point you to the existing VIN-first entry. That does not give it authority to approve an appraisal, confirm purchaser declarations, pay or sign for you. Do not send your VIN, evidence or private access information to an assistant just to find the right next step.
After submission, keep your secure appraisal page for status, additional-information requests, purchaser confirmation, payment and authorized documents. Use the site’s Return to your appraisal navigation if you need to return. Keep your private access information to yourself; do not paste it into an assistant or public message.
If you already registered and paid PST, the applicable package includes refund-support materials and a FIN 355/MV application draft. You review, sign and file the government application yourself. The Ministry decides the refund. Read the refund guide for the separate evidence and receipt deadline.
When Underbook says no
Sometimes review finds that a paid appraisal wouldn’t help: the numbers don’t support it, or your vehicle falls outside what Underbook can support. Underbook tells you so, and nothing is charged. Why that happens, and how to judge it in advance, is in Is a FIN 320 appraisal worth it?.
For how the fee works and exactly when it is requested, see Pricing and when payment is requested.
No outcome is guaranteed. Delivery of your signed appraisal and applicable FIN 320 materials happens only after payment and after your submission is complete.
